Maternity & Nursing Gowns: What to Look for Before You Buy

Most 'maternity wear' is just a bigger dress. A gown that genuinely works through pregnancy and nursing needs four things — here's the checklist we used to design our MomCare line.

1. Fabric: cotton, non-negotiable

Pregnancy raises body temperature; synthetic fabrics trap it. Breathable pure cotton keeps you comfortable through trimesters and through 3 a.m. feeds. All MomCare gowns are soft, pre-washed cotton.

2. Nursing access: concealed, two-sided zippers

Buttons gape and snaps pop. Look for concealed vertical zippers on both sides of the bodice — discreet enough for guests at home, fast enough for a hungry newborn. This is the architecture of our MomCare Morpankh and MomCare Checkered gowns.

3. Fit: A-line, empire waist, room to grow

An A-line flare from an empire waistline fits a 5-month bump, a 9-month bump, and a postpartum body without ever clinging — so one gown lasts the whole journey instead of one trimester.

4. Longevity: will you wear it after?

The best maternity pieces don't look like maternity pieces. A hand-blocked print and a proper silhouette mean the gown keeps working as everyday home wear for years.
